About Us
The East Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS) operates throughout the entire East Midlands. Any landlord who owns and lets residential property in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire or Rutland is eligible to join this Accreditation Scheme.
EMLAS is owned by the partner organisations, and is currently organised and administered by Decent and Safe Homes East Midlands (DASH) who have been a highly active regional resource for landlords since 2005.
This Accreditation Scheme is different to most other schemes operating in the Private Rented Sector as it concentrates on the management standards and knowledge of the landlord rather than property standards. Through professional development that enables landlords to recognise deficiencies in property or management standards, in much the same way as a local authority representative would, we believe that landlords will be able to ensure that their properties comply with all relevant laws and guidelines, and they will be able to avoid the pitfalls that a lack of clear information can bring. To concentrate solely on the property itself would not achieve these goals in the long term.
If you are a landlord with at least one residential property in the East Midlands or need advice from a party wall surveyor, apply online to join the EMLAS scheme, or contact us for more information.
